The brainchild of Submit Music co-founderDan Berry(whose playing credits include the likes ofBombay Bicycle Club,Slugabed&Mr Jukes),The 3rd Estateis a collaborative project, bringing together incredible musicians and providing a space for free artistic expression, capturing the essence of improvised music and magic of great people feeding off each other's creative energy.

The EP's exuberant title track serves as the opener, featuring the vocal talents of the legendaryTy. Throughout his career, Ty was an undeniable example of maintaining artistic integrity and never compromising one's work, a sentiment that is perfectly embodied here. The EP serves as a musical experiment to take the craft of MCing, marrying it with a Jazz approach to musical creation. Recorded straight to tape with no click track, the parts were arranged in such a way so as to ensure that all musicians had a chance to edit, develop and improvise their playing throughout the record.

In many ways "Heart Is Beating" is a record bound together by the beauty and fragility of life, and the relationships which characterise it, a reminder to cherish friendships and celebrate the life's special moments. A record characterised by joy and pain, contributorsTyandToby Seedsadly passed away, as well as Dan and his partner suffering a close personal loss during the record's creation. On using music as a healing power, Dan explains : "the release has become very emotionally tied up with a period of my life quite characterised by love & loss. and it feels like a tribute and record of this beautiful but painful time in my life."

An uplifting and enriching listen from start to finish, the EP displays some incredible musicianship - gathering some of the finest musicians from Manchester & London to craft modern soul jams. A perfect example of grassroots music bringing people together to share ideas and create something priceless, a fitting tribute to all those who inspired and helped create it.

Anchored by a fat bass riff, the various musicians make their presence felt in the periphery of the arrangement, with clever flourishes throughout and a stunning sax solo from Berry to close out the song.
